SMARTERPICKS — Privacy Policy

Plain-English summary: We collect the minimum amount of data we need to run the Service — basically your Whop account info and your IP for rate limiting. We do not see or store your payment details (Whop handles that). We do not run third-party analytics or ad trackers. You can ask us to delete your data at any time.

1.What We Collect

Here's everything SMARTERPICKS collects, where it's stored, and what we do with it:

Whop account info

When you sign in with Whop OAuth, we receive your Whop user ID, name, and email. Used to verify your subscription status and address you in the Service.

Auth tokens

A Whop access token and refresh token are stored in your browser's localStorage so you stay signed in between visits. They are not sent to any third party other than Whop's API.

IP address

Your IP is read transiently for rate limiting on our chat API (so a single attacker can't drain our budget). We do not log it persistently or correlate it with your account.

Chat content

Questions you type into the "Ask Claude" chat panel are sent to Anthropic to generate a reply. The pick context (league, line, reasoning) is sent alongside. Conversations are not stored on our servers.

Newsletter email

If you sign up for the newsletter, your email goes to our email provider for delivery only.

2.What We Don't Collect

Payment details. Whop is the merchant of record. They process your card; we never see it.
No third-party analytics or ad pixels. No Google Analytics, no Facebook Pixel, no fingerprinting tools.
No tracking cookies. We use localStorage for auth state — not for tracking — and there are no other cookies set by this site.
No betting history. We don't know which picks you actually placed, where you placed them, or what you wagered. We never ask.

3.Third Parties

We rely on a small number of services to run the Site. Each only sees the data it needs to do its job:

Whop — handles authentication, subscriptions, billing, and refunds. See Whop's Privacy Policy.
Anthropic (Claude) — receives your chat questions plus the pick they're about. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
The Odds API — provides game odds and final scores. We send no user data here.
Vercel — hosts the Site. Their server logs may include IP and request URL for routine operations.

4.Data Retention

Auth tokens live in your browser until you log out or they expire. Chat conversations are not retained server-side once the response is returned. IP-based rate-limit counters are kept in memory for at most a few minutes. If you cancel and request deletion of your account info, we'll work with Whop to remove what we control.

5.Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export the personal data we hold about you. To exercise any of these rights, email support@smarterpicks.io from the email associated with your Whop account. We'll respond within a reasonable time and at no cost.

You can sign yourself out at any time with the "Logout" link in the header on any page — that immediately clears your tokens from this device.

6.Children

The Service is restricted to users 21 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 21. If you believe a minor has signed up, please contact us and we'll remove the account.

7.Security

We use HTTPS for all traffic. Auth tokens never leave your browser except in calls to Whop's API. The Service has no admin dashboard with access to user data. That said: no system is perfectly secure. If you suspect a security issue, please email us so we can investigate.

8.Changes to This Policy

If we change what we collect or how we use it, we'll update this page and bump the "Last updated" date. Material changes will be communicated through the Service or by email.
